GDV
GDV is a "is a rapidly progressive life-threatening condition of dogs that requires immediate medical attention" (American College of Veterinary Surgeons, 2023). It " occurs when a dog’s stomach fills with gas, food, or fluid and subsequently twists" (Veterinary Medical Center of Central New York, 2023).

Early signs of GDV can include but are not limited to: "restlessness, excessive drooling, and looking uncomfortable after eating," (Specialists, 2025), "Dry heaving, retching, or repeated unsuccessful attempts to vomit, Bloated belly, Panting, anxiety, and overall restlessness, Drooling, Rapid breathing, Pale gums, Weakness, [and] Collapse" (Canine Bloat (GDV): Risk, Treatment, and Prevention | Animal Emergency & Specialty Center - Parker (AESC), n.d.)
